About

ella & jaks

ella & jaks started in 2009, created by Sandy Loudon while in the throes of raising 3 little people. It commenced with sewing handbags and other totable items and has morphed along the way… with the creative design and development process always closely connected to colour, texture and the emotive feelings which come from all things tactile and visual.

“Design and colour are at the forefront of my objectives, the emotive qualities of both prevail in all of my creations. how a product feels texturally, emotionally and structurally are paramount. My objectives are to incorporate style, practicality and function into all of my designs, along with connecting each of my clients to the colour and textiles used…” Sandy Loudon

Most of ella & jaks creations are one-off pieces inspired by the fabrics or paper found. Always happy to create commissioned pieces to suit the individual.

Always looking for inspiration and new techniques ella & jaks introduced handcrafted paper beads, using high quality paper stock. The addition of gemstones ensures the AYA bracelets encompass the meanings of each stone. Find out more here.

 AYA

AYA stands for “Absolutely You Always” and was designed using 11 beads and 11 gemstones to create 22 beads in total; a master number.

The combination of the gemstones meanings, a master number and the handcrafted beads ensures these bracelets bring something to each and every wearer.

aya-meaning

AYA is also an African Adinkra symbol, which is a fern. It is a symbol of endurance and resourcefulness.

It has many meanings as a female name. Some of the meanings are:
design
colourful
beautiful
abundance
creativity
of the earth
music
melody
All of this encompasses the whole feeling behind the AYA bracelet as a concept; as a beautiful, practical piece of jewellery for wearing everyday, swapping to a different gemstone when you need specific strength or healing.
